Sue Towner – Digital & Book Illustrations

I was approached by Sue Towner, whom I met through local networking, about a very special personal project. Sue has been writing short stories inspired by her lifelong love of motorbikes for over 30 years, and she was looking for an illustrator who could help bring those stories to life visually for an upcoming book.

I was excited to take on the challenge. Having never illustrated a motorcycle before, this project pushed me outside my comfort zone and into a period of detailed research and experimentation. I spent time studying different motorcycle styles, perspectives and visual references, as well as exploring illustrative approaches that would complement the tone and character of Sue’s storytelling.

Each illustration was carefully developed to reflect the individuality of the stories, capturing both the spirit of motorcycling and the emotion behind Sue’s writing. The result is a collection of bespoke illustrations that visually enhance the narrative and help transform her long-held stories into a fully realised book, ready for publication in 2026.
